Medical Welfare Officer with Learning Support Duties

Lifelancer is partnering with a secondary school in Waltham Forest to find a Medical Welfare Officer who can also provide Learning Support Assistant duties. This role involves ensuring the health and wellbeing of students while supporting their academic progress in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the Medical Welfare Officer, providing first aid, administering medication, and monitoring student health and wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records of student medical conditions, treatments, and support plans
- Liaise with parents, carers, and medical professionals to ensure students receive appropriate care
- Support students with special educational needs and disabilities in the classroom, working alongside teachers to assist with their academic development
- Provide Learning Support Assistant duties, including 1:1 and small group support for students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment, addressing both physical and emotional needs
- First Aid qualification or willingness to complete one
- Previous experience in a medical welfare or student care role within a secondary school or similar environment
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information professionally
- A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to student care and academic support
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
