We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shift Engineer to join our building services team at RAF High Wycombe. This role is perfect for a candidate with a strong electrical or mechanical bias who will work as part of our maintenance team, reporting directly to the Critical Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Control: Manage and lead a shift team of technicians, ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of the site's electrical, mechanical, and building services equipment.
- Planned Maintenance & Reactive Repairs: Perform planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance tasks, and investigate/react to repair mechanical, electrical, and building services systems.
- Technical Diagnostics: Service, test, diagnose, and repair process control systems and automatic control devices related to building services plant and equipment.
- Collaboration: Liaise and assist with other services to ensure efficient work activities, workmanship, and productivity in compliance with performance standards.
- Fault Diagnostics: Use provided test and monitoring equipment to maintain engineering system performance and support fault diagnostics and repair.
- Compliance & Safety: Carry out electrical, mechanical, and system checks in accordance with current legislation to maintain a compliant environment.
- Certified AP Electrical Operative: You will either be, or be trained to be, a certified AP electrical operative, with responsibilities for engineering services on-site as per JSP375 Volume 3.
- Technical Support: Provide technical advice and support to shift teams and 3rd party contractors working within the building.
- Health & Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and other statutory compliance requirements relevant to the role.
- Educational Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3, ONC/D, or equivalent qualification in a building services, engineering, or related discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Experience with both open and closed protocol BMS systems (Johnson, Honeywell, Satchwell, etc.), network-based fire alarm, CCTV, access control systems, IDS, PA/VA, and other electronic building service systems.
- Work Management: Ability to manage multiple services simultaneously, meeting the company's and client's expectations.
- MOD Environment Experience: Previous experience working in a MOD environment and familiarity with Safe Systems of Work (JSP 375, Vol 3).
- Critical Engineering Risk Management: Proven experience working with critical engineering risk management protocols.
- HV/LV Electrical Systems: Strong knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, large UPS, and generator systems.
- Team Leadership: Demonstrable team leadership experience, with the ability to guide and manage a team effectively.
We offer a competitive salary package between £50,000 - £55,000 per annum, comprehensive training and development, including AP electrical operative certification, and the chance to be part of a dynamic team delivering essential services in a high-security MOD environment.
