Job Title: Building Engineer

Location: Warrington, with occasional travel to customer sites

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer to join our team at Onyx-Conseil. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our data centres and IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and build virtualised data centres from a baseline assured solution and supporting documentation.
  2. Provide technical support and incident management using BMC Remedy.
  3. Configure and manage network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  4. Administer Windows Server and Windows 10, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Certs, and PKI.
  5. Manage Microsoft technologies, including SQL, Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, and WSUS.
  6. Configure and manage VMware technologies, including virtualisation and thin clients.
  7. Update firmware versions of hardware devices, including UPS, servers, SANs, and switches.
  8. Develop strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Work with Linux and have exposure to bulk user provisioning and data migration.
  10. Understand configuration management and test and assurance principles.
Requirements:
  1. General knowledge and experience of Microsoft and VMware technologies.
  2. Strong networking skills.
  3. Experience of working in a team environment.
  4. Systems and software engineering background, including all aspects of the solution lifecycle.
  5. Understanding of low-level engineering documentation and test scenarios.
