Job Title: Associate Director

At Ricardo, we are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our Climate Action Planning and Transparency (CAPT) team. As a senior-level role, you will provide technical leadership, oversee business development, and deliver projects related to climate adaptation policy, planning, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement climate adaptation policies, strategies, and plans for public sector clients, including the European Commission and international development partners.
  • Lead complex proposals, ensuring quality assurance and delivering high-quality consultancy projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff, including project directors and technical leads.
  • Engage in business development, bid leadership, and client relations, with occasional international travel.
Requirements:
  • Higher degree in a numerate/scientific subject or equivalent academic experience.
  • Extensive international climate adaptation-related experience, including in a UK and/or EU context.
  • Expertise in policy development, planning, and monitoring and evaluation regarding climate adaptation.
  • Strong literacy in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Competencies and Experience:
  • Thematic expertise, such as nature-based solutions, resilient infrastructure, or sustainable development goals.
  • Knowledge of international climate change policy, including the UNFCCC.
  • Literacy in other aspects of data science, including the use of climate model outputs.
