About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead our accounting and finance functions at Universal Business Team in Colchester. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and profitability.

Your primary responsibilities will include managing the overall accounts function, developing and maintaining budgets, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive management reports.
  2. Partner with department heads to develop budgets and manage expenses effectively.
  3. Ensure timely submission of monthly management accounts and annual accounts.
  4. Maintain all ledgers and ensure data accuracy within the ERP system.
  5. Conduct credit reviews and debt collection processes.
  6. Approve/disapprove new credit accounts based on credit reports.
  7. Manage VAT returns and bank reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role in an SME.
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification with strong commercial and technical skills.
  • Expertise in project costing, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in streamlining financial systems and driving operational efficiency.
