Director of Data Centres and Mission Critical Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Data Centres and Mission Critical sector. As a key member of our Sector Leadership team, you will be responsible for managing and directing projects, meeting with clients, and providing technical leadership and guidance.
About the Role
As a Director, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and encouraging repeat business opportunities
- Leading large-scale complex projects in the UK and internationally
- Working with and refining strict governance processes associated with Mission Critical projects
- Broadening and building upon the services offered within your area of responsibility or expertise
- Developing leadership and supporting relevant directors in strategic direction of the business
- Leading bid preparation and coordinating tender activities with other disciplines both internally and externally
- Leading, coordinating, and agreeing appointments in conjunction with the Risk Management Group
- Planning, leading, and managing medium- to large-scale projects within the office
- Being accountable for communicating, coordinating, and managing resources to ensure successful delivery of projects
- Being accountable to the client and firm for the successful delivery of all projects within your business area
- Authoring complex documents and overseeing and reviewing documentation authored by others
- Being accountable for achieving financial targets within your area of the business or projects
- Being accountable for the financial management, invoicing, debtor chasing, fee variations, and final account settlement on projects under your direction
- Facilitating and introducing new work stream activities within your area of the business to improve efficiency and motivation within the teams
- Providing guidance and technical support and assistance to engineering staff at all levels to ensure that the most appropriate design solutions are provided
- Providing expert technical support as part of project joint ventures within the firm
- Contributing to the work of the Technical Group
- Promoting and enabling a culture of innovation and ideas generation within the business area
- Providing a firm-wide contribution within your area of technical expertise
- Leading by example, role-modeling positive behaviors, and actively influencing others to do the same
- Inputting to the recruitment process for the business area and carrying out interviews and assisting in the selection process of suitable candidates at all levels
- Supporting the training coordinators and developing/overseeing staff training requirements for the business area
- Supporting the directors in the overall development of the business area
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a non-adversarial manner
- Qualified and recognized in industry with Incorporated/Chartered status
- Recognized Project Management qualifications (Prince II or similar)
- Strong technical knowledge in the primary area of expertise and work to relevant and applicable regulations, design guides, etc.
- Good understanding of other disciplines
- IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to effectively work to timescales and deadlines
- Extensive relevant industry experience
- Commitment to effectively deliver to demanding timescales
- Excellent communication skills
- Works under own initiative and under increased pressure
- Provides a lead role in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals
- Acts in a professional, personable, and competent manner
- Positively leads a team
- Proactively supports and motivates team members
- Develops effective client and fellow professional relationships for future business growth
- Shows commitment to personal and continuing professional development
- Actively contributes to the wider engineering and construction industry
