Role Overview

A unique opportunity to make a difference in waste management as a Multi Skilled Operative at Biffa.

About the Role

This exciting role requires the safe and proper operation and maintenance of site vehicles, encompassing tasks from receiving and directing waste to loading RDF and commodity bales. Housekeeping is a standard expectation for all roles, ensuring a clean and efficient working environment.

Preventative maintenance and defect reports are crucial functions of the role, guaranteeing timely servicing and maintenance of any given vehicle, which is deemed a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily equipment checks to ensure compliance with safety standards;
  • Complete daily report forms for all equipment used, including mileage and service records;
  • Operate with diligence and care, adhering strictly to Health and Safety parameters;
  • Provide control of waste directly at the point of unloading;
  • Clean the working area in and out of the cab; and
  • Inform the shift leader about accidents, unsuitable waste, etc.
Requirements

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • An attitude of compliance and good attention to detail;
  • Robustness and resilience, with the ability to absorb pressure and respond positively;
Desirable Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Experience in Waste Management, Warehousing, or Construction environments;
  • Mechanical knowledge;
  • Mobile plant operation and maintenance;
  • Previous experience in operating a FLT, loading shovel, or 360;
