About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at bigspark, a UK-based consultancy delivering cutting-edge data platforms and solutions. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing scalable, cloud-native data engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality, distributed data processing systems using Java, Python, and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement event-driven architectures, microservices, and containerized solutions.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines using DevOps toolchains, CI/CD, and container registries.
  • Work closely with our clients to understand their data engineering needs and provide expert guidance on data platform design and implementation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in data engineering, machine learning, and cloud computing.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Java and Python development, with a strong understanding of object-relational mapping (ORM) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, MQ, and other relevant technologies.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, container registries, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing, networking, load balancing, and API gateways, with experience in AWS.
  • Knowledge of IAC development, Terraform, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, and Databricks is a plus.
