Compliance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our Water Quality and Environment team at Severn Trent Water.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering the annual wastewater sampling and analysis plans for Operator Self-Monitoring and Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD) regulatory obligations as set out by the Environment Agency (EA) or Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
You will ensure the delivery of the sampling plans through day-to-day liaison and overall contract management of the OSM and UWWTR Sampling and Analysis Contractors.
Additionally, you will develop plans to meet evolving regulatory demands and ensure all necessary processes and procedures are in place for internal and external audits.
You will also ensure key environmental regulatory ODI's and EPA (EA/NRW) measures across the spectrum of our environment activities, including the new River Water Quality ODI, are assured via both internal and external audit programmes.
- Manage the day-to-day workload of two Waste Water Monitoring Advisors.
- Forecast spend in respect to the OSM and UWWTR Sampling and Analysis Contracts.
- Be the main point of contact for the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales for OSM and UWWTR monitoring, analytical, data return, and regulatory queries.
- Lead the Environment Agency's and Natural Resources Wales annual Operator Monitoring Assessment (OMA) Audit.
- Provide advice and interpretation on waste water monitoring requirements to internal stakeholders and engineering consultants appointed by Severn Trent Water or Hafren Dyfrdwy.
To succeed in this role, you will have knowledge of the water industry regulatory arena, environmental regulations, and environmental management systems.
You will have experience planning and delivering regulatory sample plans for wastewater or water.
You will have strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload.
You will also have experience in the use of MS Office tools (Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
Relevant experience in an environmental discipline, such as environmental chemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, water management, or similar, is also required.
Travel is required, so you must hold a full UK driving license.
