About the Position:

As an Acoustic Consultant at Rolls-Royce Submarines, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reduction of our submarines' signature. This is achieved by conducting advanced analytical techniques such as vibro-acoustic analysis/CAE. The successful candidate will be able to provide expert advice and guidance to our boat programmes, ensuring we meet the necessary NSRP signature targets.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  1. You will conduct detailed analyses of our submarine designs using CAE software such as FEA/FEM and SEA to predict their acoustic performance.
  2. You will collaborate closely with our boat programmes, customers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to reduce our submarines' acoustic signatures.
  3. You will engage in research and development activities aimed at improving our analysis methods and identifying new opportunities for reducing our signature.
  4. You will participate in the verification and validation of our products through relevant testing and commissioning programmes.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
  • Prior experience in vibro-acoustic analysis/CAE and the use of CAE software such as FEA/FEM and SEA.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Working Conditions: As this role involves working with sensitive information, you will be required to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Additionally, due to the nature of the work, you must hold a UK nationality.
