We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team in South Oxfordshire. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CNC machining department, providing guidance and leadership to a team of machinists.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership and Supervision: Oversee the CNC machining department, providing guidance and leadership to a team of machinists.
- CNC Programming and Setup: Develop and optimize CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machines using CAD/CAM software, and set up machines for efficient production runs.
- Quality Control: Ensure all machined parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards, conducting regular inspections and troubleshooting any machining issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve process efficiency.
- Training and Development: Mentor and train junior machinists, sharing best practices and helping to develop their technical skills.
- Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure machines are well-maintained and downtime is minimized.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in CNC machining, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in CNC programming (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar), machine setup, and operation, with a strong understanding of CAD/CAM software.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work with tight tolerances and ensure high-quality output.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Education: A relevant engineering or technical qualification is preferred, but not essential.
