Job Description

We are looking for a Youth Support Professional to join our team at West Dunbartonshire Council. This is a part-time position, and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

The successful candidate will work within the Young People In Mind (YPIM) team, providing a service for children 0-21 years old who are looked after or accommodated by West Dunbartonshire council, as well as young people who are vulnerable to homelessness.

The primary aim of the YPIM service is to offer advice and training to networks around our children and young people, with a proportion requiring direct psychological support. The specialist will provide one-to-one psychological assessment and intervention to children and young people on an individual basis, including low mood, anxiety, self-harm, emotional regulation, and attachment/trauma.

This role requires SSSC registration and relevant post-registration experience working with children and/or young people, and their professional networks, with a range of mental health and neuro-developmental difficulties. Excellent communication skills and a full current driving licence are also essential.

The Community Mental Health Service provides a package of care to this vulnerable population. We promote links with various agencies involved in providing care, and assist in the development and running of training.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, and membership with the PVG scheme is essential.

West Dunbartonshire Council offers flexible working arrangements, access to the Local Government pension scheme with an employer's contribution of at least 19%, and a minimum of 25 days annual leave increasing to 35 days as well as 8 fixed public holidays each year.

Estimated Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 per annum
