We're seeking a highly experienced Principal Architect to join our Defence client's Major Infrastructure Projects directorate. This division delivers significant new and upgraded dock, berth, and building infrastructure projects essential for supporting the ship and submarine sustainment programs. The successful candidate will deliver the architectural aspects of the facility, ensuring systems are designed with a clear statement of compliance and meet all relevant HSE requirements. They will manage the architectural elements of the Dock Facility upgrade, ensuring technical performance, and make informed technical responses. The Principal Architect will contribute to the project's technical planning process by identifying key factors for effective project implementation. They will manage risks effectively, ensuring that all staff and contractors are aware of the hazards and risks associated with the project.

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture is required. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex building designs, particularly within heavily regulated environments. Experience in major civil infrastructure projects in the marine environment is essential. Previous experience with highly complex buildings in the nuclear sector is desirable but not essential. This is an umbrella contractor position, but staff solutions are accepted. Most work will be from the local Assystem office or home location with occasional visits to the Client site in Plymouth.
