About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Press Tooling Design Engineer to join our team at Michael Page. As a key member of our Design & Technical team, you will be responsible for designing and developing press tool and fixture designs, and implementing improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop press tool and fixture designs, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
  2. Collaborate with the Design Lead to implement improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.
  3. Work with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components.
  4. Analyze existing press tooling and components to identify areas for improvement.
  5. Prepare design solutions, including CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and related documentation.
  6. Perform material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis.
  7. Plan and coordinate projects to ensure timely delivery, quality, and budget.
  8. Evaluate manufacturing processes and develop solutions to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, waste, and scrap.
  9. Ensure consistent repeatable processes and product quality.
  10. Provide manufacturing support and information for all processes.
  11. Generate and maintain product and process data and training.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Recent experience (at least 3+ years) in a Press Tooling Design Engineer role.
  • A degree/HND/HNC in a related field (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Proficient user of CREO or SOLIDWORKS 3D (CREO Parametric preferred).
  • Able to design pneumatic circuit schematics.
  • Knowledge and experience of material selection.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products.
