About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Press Tooling Design Engineer to join our team at Michael Page (UK). As a key member of our Design & Technical team, you will be responsible for designing and developing press tool and fixture designs, and implementing improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop press tool and fixture designs, ensuring they meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the Design Lead to implement improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Conduct mechanical design for new projects, turning concepts into cost-effective press tool designs.
  • Design single, multi-stage, and progression press tooling, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Investigate and analyze existing press tooling or components to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare design solutions, including CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and related documentation.
  • Perform essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis.
  • Plan and coordinate projects to ensure timely delivery, quality, and budget.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and develop solutions to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, waste, and scrap.
  • Ensure consistent repeatable processes and product quality.
  • Generate and maintain product and process data and training.
  • Collaborate with members of the Design & Technical team to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
  • Recent experience (at least 3+ years) in a Press Tooling Design Engineer role.
  • Degree/HND/HNC in a related field (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Proficient user of CREO or SOLIDWORKS 3D (CREO Parametric preferred).
  • Able to design pneumatic circuit schematics.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products.
