About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Director to join our team at USS Investment Management Limited. As a key member of our Operations team, you will play a critical role in driving our data-related strategies and ensuring the effective management of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance plan aligned with our data strategy, goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a formal data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support the implementation of our data ownership model, including assigning data roles and responsibilities.
  • Drive the development of a data culture within our organization, designing and implementing training programs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data governance tools and technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with our strategic data program team to deliver our data strategy.
  • Establish connections between data governance and other frameworks, such as Operational Risk and Information Security.
  • Embed best practices in data projects and communicate data governance issues and progress to stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination of our Data Oversight Committee.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in implementing and maintaining data governance practices aligned to business needs.
  • Excellent understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, data architecture, and data management.
  • Experience working in Investment Management, with a strong understanding of data underpinning Investment Management activities.
  • Experience with implementing and operating data governance tools and an understanding of enterprise data platforms, cloud technologies, and data mastering solutions.
  • Good understanding of data architecture, data quality, and data management best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a dynamic yet practical approach to working in a team environment.
