Professor/Senior Clinician in Soft Tissue Surgery

To deliver an exceptional and innovative Soft Tissue Surgery veterinary service by providing expertise and clinical activity in the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine.
To enhance and develop the delivery of clinical teaching to undergraduates, clinical scholars, and to undertake clinical scholarship, thereby contributing to the School's objectives relevant to national and international excellence in clinical service, teaching, and research.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical- To provide high-quality specialized discipline and appropriate advice to external referring practices and owners, maintaining a clinical referral workload necessary to support commercial, teaching, and research activities.
- To support the development of novel approaches and techniques to aid diagnosis and treatment, exploiting opportunities to enhance income generation capability.
- To participate in the out-of-hours service, ensuring adequate cover for direct supervision, advice, and expertise when required.
- To contribute to the implementation and validation of clinical quality assurance measures.
- To support the planning, organization, and delivery of training requirements for clinical scholars, supervising clinical duties and research projects for successful completion of Board examinations.
- To participate in practical/professional and/or clinical practice bodies related to the service area at national and international levels as appropriate.
- To ensure compliance with continuing professional development requirements of the appropriate speciality and the RCVS.
- To participate in promotional activities and events relating to the Small Animal Hospital.
- To engage in the planning, organization, and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities, and the Clinical Scholar didactic program within veterinary medicine in accordance with established programs.
- To support and encourage the development of creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, in accordance with the University's Quality Enhancement Strategy, maintaining or improving educational opportunities for students.
- To deliver a range of assessment activities and engage fully in the examination process as appropriate, using various methods and techniques, and provide effective, timely, and appropriate feedback to students to support learning.
- To conduct personal scholarship of an external reputation and maintain a consistent output of publications in high-quality refereed clinical journals and/or textbooks.
- To collaborate in appropriate clinical scholarship projects/trials through a portfolio of individual/joint research projects and present findings at national and international meetings to ensure a high profile for the School and the University of Glasgow.
- To attend and actively participate in national/international events/research seminars/conferences within the service area.
- To contribute to the administrative work of the Hospital/Division as assigned by the Clinical Director/Head of Division.
- To contribute to the performance and development review processes as appropriate in accordance with university strategy.
