This international development and humanitarian charity is a community-focused organisation based in the UK. It addresses poverty within the local community and extends support beyond it. The charity creates opportunities for unemployed individuals to achieve self-reliance, provides dignity for the elderly, assists refugees, and responds to international disasters. The charity needs extra support within the finance team due to its active growth. This role combines accounting and financial analysis responsibilities with 2 days of office work per week. Working hours are 09:00 -17:30, with an early finish at 15:00 every Friday.
- Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will oversee the entire invoice payment process, including receipt authorisation, and weekly payment runs in the finance system (Iplicit). You will also handle grant transfers to partners, setting up payments in Bankline.
- Expense management is another key responsibility, overseeing staff expense payments and managing credit card processes, including monthly reconciliations for NatWest cards. You will administer prepaid card processes, including requests, top-ups, and reconciliations.
- Reconciliation tasks involve reconciling supplier payments and direct debits to the ledger. You will ensure all bank accounts are reconciled against the cash book. You will also post monthly bank interest, charges, and fees to the ledger.
- Journal preparation requires preparing and posting routine and month-end journals, including depreciation, accruals, and prepayments. You will ensure automated journals are run and posted correctly.
- Financial reporting and compliance require completing month-end reconciliations and maintaining supporting documentation. You will maintain fixed assets and contract registers. You will also assist in preparing annual accounts and documentation for auditors.
- Cash management involves managing petty cash and foreign currency floats. You will update the charity's monthly cash holding position as part of treasury management.
- You should be studying or part-qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification.
- Proven bookkeeping and financial accounting skills are essential.
- Previous experience as a Finance Officer or Assistant Accountant in a medium-sized organisation is necessary.
- You should have experience of preparing month-end close.
- Strong Excel skills with excellent attention to detail are required.
- A competitive salary of approximately £35,000 per annum.
