Environmental Sustainability Specialist

McAleer & Rushe is seeking a highly skilled Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our SHEQ Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with M&R Environmental policies and procedures, including site-specific environmental plans and risk assessments. Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting project teams in the application of M&R Environmental and Sustainability policies and procedures
* Communicating the requirements of current environmental legislation and the ISO 14001 standard
* Offering assistance and guidance to Project Managers in drafting and developing site-specific Environmental and Site Waste Management Plans
* Coordinating BREEAM and HQM evidence during the construction and post-construction phase of projects
* Providing onsite engagement, support, and coaching in Environmental and Sustainability procedures
* Collating Environmental and Sustainability statistics, including carbon, waste, water, and social value
* Liaising with subcontractors on all environmental issues during the design, construction, commissioning, and handover of schemes
* Conducting environmental and sustainability audits and highlighting non-compliances
* Assisting with the development of environmental and sustainability initiatives
* Carrying out Environmental and Sustainability awareness training and toolbox talks
* Assisting site teams in promoting environmental/sustainability principles to ensure compliance and best practice
* Developing Environmental and Sustainability case studies and lessons learned across projects
The ideal candidate will have a degree in an Environmental or Sustainability discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a similar role. Practitioner membership of IEMA or similar is also desirable. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a busy, deadline-driven environment and be able to handle multiple submissions simultaneously. They will also have experience of using databases, spreadsheets, and the internet for reporting purposes and be able to create professional documentation to a high standard. The ability to maintain confidentiality and develop good working relationships with all company departments is essential. Flexibility with regards to site location within the UK and Ireland is also required. Candidates should have the appropriate work permit or the right to work in the UK.
