Environmental Sustainability Specialist

McAleer & Rushe is seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our SHEQ Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's environmental policies and procedures are implemented effectively across all projects.
Main Responsibilities:- Assist project teams in the application of M&R Environmental and Sustainability policies and procedures, including site-specific environmental plans and risk assessments.
- Communicate the requirements of current environmental legislation and the ISO 14001 standard.
- Offer assistance and guidance to Project Managers in drafting and developing site-specific Environmental and Site Waste Management Plans.
- Collate environmental and sustainability statistics, including carbon, waste, water, and social value.
- Liaise with subcontractors on all environmental issues during the design, construction, commissioning, and handover of schemes.
- Conduct environmental and sustainability audits to ensure compliance with company policies and highlight any non-conformances.
- Assist with the development of environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Carry out environmental and sustainability awareness training and toolbox talks.
- Assist site teams in promoting environmental/sustainability principles to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Develop environmental and sustainability case studies and lessons learned across projects.
- Participate in site progress meetings and complete environmental investigation reports.
- Attend regular SHEQ meetings and training as required.
- A degree in an Environmental or Sustainability discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a similar role.
- Practitioner membership of IEMA or similar.
- Experience of working in a busy, deadline-driven working environment.
- Experience of using databases, spreadsheets, and the internet for reporting purposes.
- Experience of creating professional documentation to a high standard.
- Creative flair and the ability to produce bespoke tailored documents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and develop good working relationships with all company departments.
- Flexibility with regards to site location within the UK & Ireland.
