Neonatal Nurse Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our dynamic and supportive team in the Neonatal Unit at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to babies and their families, working collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team in an environment that is open, supportive, and empowering.
The Neonatal Unit at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a Local Neonatal Unit comprising of 16 cots, including 2 intensive care, 3 high dependency, and 11 special care cots.
Main Duties of the Job
- Ensure nursing care is delivered safely and effectively, taking into account the views of the parent.
- Ensure the plan of care is updated as appropriate.
- Ensure arrangements for the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients are made safely and effectively in line with Trust policies.
- Recognize situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individual and take appropriate action.
- Carry out activities involved in conducting the comprehensive assessment of a patient's nursing requirements.
- Undertake relevant risk assessments to inform the care needs of the patient.
- Recognize the significance of observations made and use these to develop an initial nursing assessment.
- Devises a plan of nursing care, based on the nursing assessment, taking into account the medical prescription, with the cooperation of the parent/guardian.
- Implement the planned programme of nursing care and, where appropriate, teach parents/guardians.
- Adhere at all times to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
