About the RoleAs a Dental Officer, you will work under the guidance of a senior dental officer and Clinical director, developing your skills as part of a supportive and person-centred team.
Main Duties- Provide dental care for priority groups in various settings.
- Adhere to department and professional standards/protocols without direct supervision.
- Comment on department policies and propose changes to departmental working practices or procedures as necessary.
- Organise the collection of patient charges and report any bad debtors to the Head of Dental services.
- Provide dental care in the domiciliary setting for patients who are housebound.
- Provide dental care in secure mental health facilities.
- Provide dental care in hospital under general anaesthesia for patients who cannot have their treatment provided in the clinic.
- Support the Head of Dental Services to maintain health and safety and security within the department, reporting risks and taking appropriate action as required.
Employees of the Trust must comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
The postholder must comply with Trust policies that protect the information assets of the organisation from unauthorised disclosure, modification, destruction, inappropriate access or use and must pay due regard to the requirements of the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice.
The postholder will be responsible for maintaining the clinical and or corporate records that fall within the remit of this role to the standards in Trust records management polices, and data quality processes and standards.
Health & SafetyCompliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the postholder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions.
This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
