Legal Claims Team Lead

The Legal Claims Team Leader will be responsible for managing the coordination and monitoring of complex packages of care and NHS funded placement. This role will require close collaboration with patients and their relatives to ensure they understand the process, eligibility criteria, and provide empathy to patients.
The postholder will have a flexible approach to care and work across inter-agency boundaries, maintaining good communication and liaison skills with all professionals and members of the public. They will undertake care reviews for people whose care is fully or partially funded by the NHS, ensuring patient-focused support and facilitating the most appropriate and cost-effective pathway for individuals.
The Legal Claims Team Leader will lead the management of packages of care for people in various care and support settings. They will work closely with the management team to support the day-to-day operational management and ongoing development of the team and services.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the coordination and monitoring of complex packages of care and NHS funded placement.
- Work closely with patients and their relatives to ensure they understand the process and eligibility criteria.
- Undertake care reviews for people whose care is fully or partially funded by the NHS.
- Lead the management of packages of care for people in various care and support settings.
- Support the day-to-day operational management and ongoing development of the team and services.
The postholder will need to build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Individual Commissioning management team
- Individual Commissioning team members
- Safeguarding teams
- Local Authority
- Service users and relatives
- Solicitors and other legal representatives
- NHSE/I
- Care providers from all sectors
- NHS STW colleagues
- Educational establishments
- Finance team
- Commissioning team
The postholder will be expected to work across the breadth of specialties according to their competency levels and have case management responsibility for a group of assigned patients. They will also undertake formal and informal teaching and training as needed and provide representation to a variety of multidisciplinary team meetings and panels.
The postholder will ensure accurate and open communication and coordination with a range of organisations and individuals. They will also support teams to ensure that the portfolio of tasks/projects are planned, managed, and delivered effectively.
Requirements:The postholder will need to have a qualification as a registered nurse and possess a current NMC registration. They will also need to have the ability to travel within the locality and have a full understanding of the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and Funded Nursing Care, Who Pays guidance, and relevant sections of the Mental Health Act and commissioning and contracting principles.
Ideally, the postholder will be an experienced CHC assessor; however, if they are an experienced case manager and do not have CHC experience, they would still be considered.
The postholder will be expected to have skills in staff management, managing caseloads, developing reports for quality monitoring, and IT and digital solutions.
The postholder will also be expected to attend National and local forums to positively contribute towards NHS change and development.
