Job Title: Building Services Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Services Engineer to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. As a key member of our Estates department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and continuous operation of all engineering and building plant and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all engineering and building plant and equipment, in accordance with statutory requirements, codes of practice, guidance notes and Trust procedures.
  • Provide out-of-hours site maintenance and be the department's point of contact for all out-of-hours incidents and breakdowns.
  • Undertake the duties of the Trust's Fire Controlling Officer and be appointed Authorised Person for roles within Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) 1 to 8.
  • Carry out line manager duties for contractors.
Requirements:
  • Full Electrical, Mechanical or Plumbing and Heating apprenticeship up to HNC/HND + Specialist knowledge in relevant area or equivalent degree level experience.
  • Completion of NHS-specific training within the first 12 months of post, including HTM 02, HTM 03, HTM 04, HTM 06, CP/AP Pressure Systems, and Boiler Operator Training.
  • Experience of engineering and building services installations, HTM's and HBN's, the capital bidding process, security systems, and legal, statutory, and non-statutory legislation.
Skills and Qualities:
  • Ability to deal with information confidentially and sensitively.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, including within unsociable hours.
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels.
  • Good leadership, influencing, planning, and team building skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
