The Role of Ad Production Designer

BBC Studios' Global News & Streaming is seeking an Ad Production Designer to join the Ad Product team, reporting to the Director of Ad Technology. This role plays a key part in creating engaging ad formats that cater to differing brand KPIs.

Key Responsibilities of the Ad Production Designer

  1. Develop innovative ad formats from concept to completion, leveraging existing assets and templates when necessary.
  2. Maintain a rich portfolio of ad templates that meet brand requirements.
  3. Collaborate with the Product Strategy and Design group to conceptualize ad experiences and interpret brand guidelines.
  4. Work with the Ad Technology and Product team to successfully launch new formats into the business.
  5. Collaborate with the Senior Tester to test ad formats for functionality and performance before delivery.
  6. Manage the technical ownership of Creative Templates.
  7. Document the creative specifications and capabilities of the ad portfolio.
  8. Advise Ad Operations and Planning teams on best practices and asset specifications.
  9. Stay up-to-date with emerging innovations in ad formats within the media and ad tech ecosystem.

Requirements for the Ad Production Designer

  1. Design experience, specifically in designing banners.
  2. Experience in creating ad campaigns or promotional content for websites and apps.
  3. Advanced proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  4. Hands-on experience with HTML5 and CSS, including the ability to design, create, and troubleshoot interactive display ads.
  5. Ability to build innovative and impactful ad formats, as well as manage a portfolio of custom ad templates.

Desirable Criteria for the Ad Production Designer

  1. Experience with ad builder tools such as Celtra, Teads, ClipCentric, and FlashTalking.
  2. Experience with asset optimization for digital, app, and/or video.
  3. Knowledge of Ad Servers, particularly Google Ad Manager and Creative Templates.
  4. Understanding of industry container standards such as SafeFrame and MRAID, as well as Advertising KPIs like viewability and attention.

Job Reference: 17846
Band: D
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. London Weighting Allowance also included alongside base pay.

This is a hybrid role, and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
