About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist DBT Therapist to join our team as a Clinical Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to adolescents with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inspirational operational and clinical leadership to a team of disciplinary clinicians, ensuring that young people experiencing serious mental illness have access to evidence-based assessments and treatment.
  • Support the shaping and development of Service and Trust strategy, and contribute to the delivery of CAMHS priorities and objectives through an effective operational multidisciplinary management model.
  • Ensure the team has strong and effective links with other relevant services across the localities, including representing the service on appropriate multiagency groups, communicating highly complex information, and contributing to the overall development of services.
Requirements
  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist under the domain of Clinical Psychologist, or Registered Nurse.
  • Qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist having successfully completed a training course recognised/accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or equivalent, and registered with ACP or Registered Nurse.
  • Qualified Systemic Family Psychotherapist, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) via the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy, and post-graduate qualification in relevant mental health/social welfare profession with demonstrable practice over a minimum of four years.
  • Post-qualification training in the clinical supervision of trainees.
  • DDBT Trained (Intensive) or extensive equivalent experience of working within the model in an outpatient setting.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Experience in neuropsychological assessment.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management with clients with complex problems, including specialised psychological interventions for difficult to treat groups (eg multiple mental health and/or physical health problems).
  • Experience of providing a specific model of evidence-based therapy (DBT) within Specialist outpatient service such as CAMHS as a Specialist/Specific intervention.
  • Ability to demonstrate an area of special interest/skill (DBT) in assessment, therapeutic intervention or research/evaluation.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively and well, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups within an outpatient setting such as CAMHS.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice in relation to children and young people.
