We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of the Speech and Language Therapy service, you will provide operational, clinical, and professional leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients and their carers.

Main Duties
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Head and Neck Cancer Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients and their carers.
  • Contribute to strategic leadership as part of the Speech and Language Senior Management team.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Management Groups to transform and continuously improve the service, using quality improvement approaches to support the development of an integrated, efficient, and responsive Speech and Language Therapy service.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and manage a specialist team delivering services to the Trust's ENT, Maxillofacial, and Oncology specialties.
  • Provide clinical expertise in the specialist area of Head and Neck Cancer in an inpatient, clinic, and outpatient setting.
  • Have experience in instrumental assessment of dysphagia (Video-fluoroscopy and FEES) and management of patients with tracheostomy, laryngectomy, and surgical valve restoration.
Person Specification
  • Recognised degree qualification.
  • HCPC Registered.
  • Completion of successful Masters modules or equivalent.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of broad range and relevant assessment tools to an appropriate level of competency.
  • Highly specialist knowledge of dysphagia.
  • Clinical educator experience.
  • Experienced in the assessment of communication impairment and application of AAC.
  • Surgical voice restoration competence including complex valve change.
Communication and Relationships
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication.
  • Able to provide and receive complex and sensitive information and adapt communication accordingly.
  • Highly developed listening and observation skills.
  • Managing emotional consequences of self and others, including when imparting sensitive and distressing information.
