Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Public Sector Accounting and Financial Reporting Specialist to join our team in Grant Thornton (UK). This role will involve working with clients to provide accounting, financial reporting, and finance function support to public sector organisations.

About the Role
  • Be responsible for a number of non-audit clients, providing technical expertise on complex financial matters.
  • Use problem-solving skills to work with clients to solve specific accounting issues, implement new standards, and review financial reports.
  • Take opportunities for wider team responsibilities through training and pitching new projects.
  • Be involved in business development to develop new relationships and support business growth.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA).
  • Post-qualification experience either in the delivery of External Audit to Local Authorities and Health bodies or from within a Local Government or Health finance function.
  • Excellent grasp of IFRS accounting standards and their implementation in the public sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial reporting in the public sector.
  • Project management experience.
What We Offer
