Public Sector Financial Reporting Lead

As a key member of our Public Sector Financial Reporting team, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to our audit teams, ensuring the highest quality audits are delivered to our clients.
About the role
This role offers a unique opportunity to utilise your financial reporting and accounting expertise to make a real impact on our clients' success. Your primary focus will be on critically reviewing draft public sector financial statements, drafting responses to complex financial reporting queries, and leading on the development of internal guidance and training materials.
Your key responsibilities
- Review and provide quality assurance on public sector financial statements, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with our audit teams, providing expert guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality audits.
- Collaborate with colleagues in our Financial Reporting and Audit Quality teams to drive continuous improvement and best practice in financial reporting.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ICAS, CA or ACCA)
- Post-qualification experience in external audit to local authorities and health bodies or within a local government or health finance function
- Excellent grasp of IFRS accounting standards and their implementation in the public sector
- Project management experience and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
