Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced production engineering specialist to join our team in Chelmsford. As a production engineering specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing CNC programs, determining manufacturing processes, and generating toolpath designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. CNC Program Development: Develop and implement CNC programs based on engineering drawings and specifications using the latest CAM software (SimensNXl).
  2. Manufacturing Process Improvement: Determine the manufacturing process of a new product from the fixture/work holding stage through to the finished product.
  3. Toolpath Design and Optimization: Generate toolpath design, model preparation, and continuous improvements within CAM & CNC.
  4. Machining Strategy Development: Advise on best practices for tooling, design concepts of fixtures or work holding components, and machining strategies.
  5. Quote Estimation and Inventory Management: Accurately provide quotes to our sales team, estimating CAM programming, machine setup, and machining run times, job-specific tooling costs, and additional post processes. Ensure that the correct tooling is available to complete a job, and order all necessary consumables throughout the production process when required.
  6. Quality Control and Assurance: Prove out programmes to production status and resolve post-processor issues, editing and proving the programs and planning manufacturing methods and operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Engineering HNC/HND: Hold an Engineering HNC/HND (or equivalent experience) and have extensive experience of both on and offline programming of CNC machines.
  • CAD/CAM Software Proficiency: Experience of using CAD/CAM software in a similar role in a manufacturing, engineering-related environment.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary (£40,000 - £45,000 per annum), depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including pension scheme, life assurance, and 25 days annual leave.
