Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security System Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to play a key role in protecting our fleet from cyber threats.

Responsibilities:
  • Cyber Security Strategy Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber security strategy for our fleet, ensuring alignment with industry standards (TS 50701 & IEC 62443-2).
  • Cyber Security Baseline Assessment: Establish and maintain a cyber security baseline assessment for each fleet platform, identifying potential vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation measures.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments of asset modifications, ensuring that any changes do not compromise the cyber security of our fleet.
  • Cyber Security Best Practices: Promote best practices throughout the engineering teams, ensuring that all staff understand the importance of cyber security in fleet operations.
  • Customer Support: Provide support to customers under the NIS Directive, ensuring that their cyber security requirements are met.
  • Cyber Resilience: Ensure that both new builds and existing asset systems are resilient to cyber failure/compromise, working collaboratively with the supply chain.
  • Change Management: Ensure that the Management of Change Procedure takes full account of cyber security risk, guaranteeing that all changes are thoroughly assessed and approved.
  • Cyber Security Requirements: Determine fleet cyber security requirements for both procurement and existing fleet upgrades, ensuring that all assets meet the necessary standards.
  • Industry Engagement: Engage with industry bodies on emerging cyber security guidance, staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices.
  • Supplier/Product Assessment: Assess new technologies designed to better secure the fleet, evaluating their effectiveness and potential impact.
  • Data Security: Collaborate with the Digital Engineering department to ensure that asset data is appropriately secured throughout the data pipeline, on vehicle, during transmission, and at rest.
  • Standards Integration: Work with the Safety, Standards & Environment team to ensure integration of cyber security standards into the business's Management System.
  • Cyber Awareness: Maintain awareness of cyber security trends and how they relate to the assets, ensuring that the team is informed and proactive in addressing potential threats.
Requirements:
  • A rail engineering background with a strong understanding of digital technology and rail-related cyber security.
  • An engineering or IT-related degree.
  • Knowledge of Chief Information Security Officer responsibilities (desirable but not mandatory).
Estimate Salary:

£60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
