Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join EU119 Vishay Newport Ltd as a Facilities Shift Technician, reporting to the Facilities Plant Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering critical Facilities Maintenance Services across the Newport site facilities on 2 different rotational shifts (days/nights).
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fault finding and fault rectification on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, utilizing the site Building Management System (BMS) to assist with plant operation and identification of problems.
- Operate Facilities plant and equipment and interrogate the site BMS system.
- Perform and record the results of both planned preventive maintenance and unplanned maintenance on facilities plant and equipment, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units.
- Routine monitoring of facilities systems, recording shift readings, measurements, and responding as appropriate.
- Perform repairs to plant and equipment either in-situ or utilizing workshop facilities.
- Respond to site alarms and take prompt action to ensure the condition is rectified as soon as possible.
- As part of a team or working on own initiative, ensure scheduled and non-routine maintenance is completed correctly and effectively.
- Take ownership of assigned areas and proactively drive improvements in energy and operational metrics.
- Liaise with Manufacturing and Reliability and Maintenance teams to ensure customer needs are fully met.
- Mentor colleagues and share expertise to improve the skill and knowledge of the group.
- Routine testing on a variety of life safety systems, including sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
- Opportunity for training in all areas as required, including but not limited to breathing apparatus, emergency response, BMS, vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.
Requirements
- Engineering Apprenticeship served with ONC or equivalent in a related field (desirable).
- Experience within the facilities department in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with electrical/mechanical fault finding & repair (pumps, fans, steam, etc.).
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) experience essential.
- A results-oriented individual with a high level of attention to detail and strong leadership skills.
- Capable of establishing and maintaining good contractor/supplier relationships.
- Ability to act and react to ever-changing business demands in a focused and efficient manner without loss of focus.
- Understanding of Cleanroom working principles.
- BMS system knowledge.
