Financial Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at AR Hine Associates. As a Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health of our prestigious independent school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage the school's monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and financial reporting to the Finance Director and governors.
- Develop and maintain detailed budgets and forecasts, working closely with department heads to monitor performance and control costs.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
- Manage cash flow, including forecasting and monitoring, to ensure the school's financial stability.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory returns and compliance documentation.
- Support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring accurate and timely submission of all required information.
- Maintain and improve financial systems and processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Assist with payroll management, pension schemes, and other employee benefits, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Provide training and support to non-financial staff on budget management and financial processes.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports for fundraising, grant applications, and other revenue-generating activities.
Requirements:
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a management accounting role, ideally within the education sector or a similar environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate it effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across the school community.
