The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Test Technician to join our team at Leonardo in Basildon. As a key member of our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, you will contribute to the development and delivery of defence electronics, mission critical systems, and surveillance solutions across various domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and validation of high-value electro-mechanical assemblies using a range of traditional test tooling and hand tools.
  • Collate and maintain test results, logs, and records, ensuring compliance with quality instructions and control plans.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities, identifying areas for process enhancement and implementing changes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Project, Engineering, and Quality, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of projects.
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements, including risk assessments and COSHH, to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Ability to identify and work with a range of traditional test tooling, including digital meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and analysers.
  • Ability to carry out bespoke and repeat testing of high-value electro-mechanical assemblies through various test procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed Production Test Procedures, including control plans, system schematics, circuit diagrams, and quality instructions.
  • Good level of computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Comfortable dealing with frequent change, delays, unexpected events, or ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience in testing Optics or optical assemblies would be beneficial.
  • Experience in testing Communications or RF assemblies would be beneficial.
  • Experience in testing Digital electronics or Printed Circuit Board (PCBs) would be beneficial.
