Role: Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Primary Academy in Ealing
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of SEN policy and provision in the school, ensuring the daily operations and specific provision to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They will also provide professional development to colleagues, parents, and other relevant agencies, and act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine the strategic development of SEN policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for the daily operations and specific provision to support pupils with SEND
- Provide professional development to colleagues, parents, and other relevant agencies
- Act as the Deputy DSL to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
- Be the Designated Teacher for Looked After Children
Requirements:
- Relevant degree with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualification or willingness to undertake the new NVQ within the first year
- Successful teaching and management/leadership experience within a Primary setting
- Solid understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, safeguarding, and child protection
- Evidence of leading staff training related to teaching and SEN
