Transport Manager - Fleet Operations

Get Staffed Online Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Transport Manager to join our client's team in Northants. As a key member of the operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a fleet of around 46 vehicles working over two depots.

The ideal candidate will have solid industry experience, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work logically and systematically. You will bring with you strong interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and a positive attitude towards learning and growth with a passion for ensuring that the fleet operates safely.

The role will involve responsibilities such as:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of a fleet of around 46 vehicles working over two depots
  • Working with the company to establish further depots in line with company growth
  • Ensuring vehicles and winches are properly maintained, carrying out regular vehicle inspections
  • Arranging repairs and routine maintenance
  • Ensuring that all drivers and operators have the correct, up-to-date qualifications
  • Monitoring and reporting on transportation costs
  • Maintaining and completing accurate records
  • Acting as the company point of contact for any queries from the Traffic Commissioner
  • Keeping up to date with new/revised transport/fleet operations legislation and advising the directors on any actions needed to ensure compliance
  • Understanding and meeting the company's Operating Licence obligations
  • Working closely with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to

This is a high-growth area of our client's business, and you would be joining at a very exciting time, with responsibility for developing a department to help deliver this growth. The role should ideally be based within commuting distance of Wellingborough with occasional travel to Scotland.
