Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Contracts Lawyer to join our team at Sellick Partnership Limited - Public Sector. As a key member of our public sector recruitment team, you will work closely with clients to provide expert advice and guidance on construction contracts and procurement.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer to work on a locum contract basis, providing legal expertise to a well-respected London Council. The assignment is initially 3 months but will be extended on a rolling basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and assistance on construction contracts, procurement, corporate, and commercial law, data protection, and competition law.
  • Advising on construction, including JCT and NEC contracts, and IT skills experience using JCT construction software.
  • Act on behalf of the Council in respect of the procurement of various contracts, including contracts for works and services, concession contracts, waste contracts, building, and construction contracts, and back-to-back agreements.
  • Advise on the interpretation of contracts and other legal documentation and responsible for carrying out complex drafting and execution and completion of contracts.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Hands-on experience working within the public sector, ideally within a local authority.
  • Good knowledge of public procurement and construction.
  • A strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts, as well as IT skills and experience using JCT construction software.
  • A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Estimate

The estimated salary for this role is £60-£80 per hour, depending on experience. This reflects the high demand for construction lawyers in London and the importance of this role within our client's organization.
