Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing tailored learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of EYFS pupils, including those with SEN.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering learning experiences that cater to the unique needs of EYFS pupils, including those with SEN.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for children with a range of special educational needs, including speech and language difficulties, autism, and other learning or behavioral challenges.
  • Support the personal, social, and emotional development of all children, fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help create and adapt learning resources, activities, and routines to ensure all children can engage and achieve their potential.
  • Assist with behavior management strategies and encourage positive interactions and communication between children.
  • Monitor and record the progress of children with SEN, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure personalized learning plans are followed.
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, and other staff to create a supportive community around each child's learning journey.
Person Specification:
  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in the EYFS and supporting those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A patient, compassionate, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and strategies for supporting children with SEN.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude with a commitment to inclusive education.
