Minor Illness Practitioner

We are seeking an exceptional Minor Illness Practitioner to join our clinical team at Montgomery-House Surgery.
As a Minor Illness Practitioner, you will be a valuable asset in providing urgent, on-the-day care for our patients, working alongside GPs and other Allied Healthcare Professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing and triaging patients, including same-day triage both over the phone and in-person
- Managing a patient list each day
- Providing treatment, including prescribing medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE, and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways, or making necessary referrals
- Managing undifferentiated undiagnosed conditions
- Identifying red flags, underlying serious pathology, and taking appropriate action
- Using complex decision-making to inform diagnosis, investigation, and complete management of care within the broad scope of practice
- Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team
- Completing relevant training
- Advising patients on general healthcare and promoting self-management
Requirements:
- Experience in a GP or other clinical setting, alongside an aptitude for working within a primary care team with GPs and other Allied Healthcare Professionals
- Relevant qualifications, as determined by the ARRS criteria
- Ability to perform investigatory procedures as required, confidently collect pathological specimens, perform and interpret ECGs, chaperoning duties as needed, and ensure information on the system is recorded accurately and in a timely way
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and carers, complex and sensitive information regarding their physical health needs, results, and treatment choices
