Job Overview

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Healthcare Assistant to join our Orthopaedic Pre Assessment team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist nurses with daily tasks and provide high-quality patient care.
  • Conduct face-to-face assessments with patients undergoing surgery and participate in taking urine samples, ECGs, blood tests, and MRSA screening.
  • Support nurses and anaesthetists with result administration and recording specific information.
  • Order and manage stock.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Education

  • Level 3 in Healthcare or NVQ Level 3.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above, or Level 2 numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Willingness to undertake and complete the Trust's internal Level 3 training programme.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare.
  • Understanding of the role of a Band 3 Senior HCA.
  • Understanding of confidentiality principles.
  • Previous experience in an acute healthcare or related setting.
