Job Summary

The Head of Nursing - Children's Community Services will provide clinical and managerial leadership to midwifery, nursing, and associated staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to women and their families. This role will be responsible for leading the workforce and financial planning for midwifery and support services, as well as implementing clinical governance initiatives and midwifery standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible and clinical presence within clinical areas, leading the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Ensure the needs of women and their families are placed at the center of care delivery, achieving trust and national standards for clinical quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Lead the workforce and financial planning for midwifery and support services, working collaboratively across the trust to support these initiatives.
  • Implement clinical governance initiatives and midwifery standards, ensuring a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and knowledgeable with respect to safeguarding triggers and risks.

Requirements

  • First Degree or working towards in a relevant subject.
  • Registered Midwife.
  • Recognized teaching and assessing qualification.

Desirable

  • Evidence of clinical standard setting and audit within maternity services.
  • Significant experience of midwifery care with a minimum of 3 years at Band 7.
  • Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff both formally and informally.
