Lead Automation Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer to join our team in Southampton. As a key member of our technical services team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of automation systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-contract site surveys to identify client requirements
  • Equipment selection and purchasing to ensure optimal system performance
  • Definition of control system documentation, including FDS, SDS, FAT, and SAT
  • Creation of risk assessments, method statements, site progress reports, and other necessary paperwork
  • Configuration and programming of multiple PLC, HMI, SCADA, and telemetry systems, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, and Mitsubishi

Requirements

  • A background in automation engineering with experience in client-facing roles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Hard working and self-motivated with a strong attention to detail
  • Hands-on electrical skills and qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
