About the Role

Acklam Medical Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients, working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Practitioner Partner and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring patient comfort and agreement to blood sample collection
  • Collecting blood samples in accordance with training and procedures
  • Accurate labelling of samples to confirm patient identity
  • Recording blood sample collection in patient records
  • Dispatching samples to laboratories in a timely fashion
  • Reporting anomalies to senior staff and notifying GPs/nurses of significant patient issues

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Phlebotomy qualification/training

Essential Experience

  • Working in a GP Practice
  • Working as a Phlebotomist
  • Ability to work unsupervised

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in using SystmOne
