We are seeking enthusiastic and committed General Practitioners with an MRCGP qualification, although applications from non-General Practitioners with relevant experience will also be considered. Essential experience in Forensic Medicine is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform examinations and assessments of adults and children under the instruction of Police Scotland.
- Work collaboratively with an experienced team of Forensic & Custody Nurses who act as 'gatekeepers' to the service, managing patients in custody and coordinating and corroborating forensic examinations.
- Contribute to a diverse range of clinical presentations in a dynamic and fluid environment, offering a privileged insight into the inner workings of the police and criminal justice system.
- Present findings in court and participate in postgraduate examinations via the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine.
Team and Environment
You will be part of a team of 3 Forensic Physicians covering a 24/7 rota, with one week working days and the other two covering 2 or 3 nights on call, while also covering sexual offence forensic medical examinations.
The service boasts modern facilities, including medical and forensic medical rooms in the police headquarters, a purpose-built paediatric examination suite, and a forensic examination suite.
