We are seeking a skilled Porter and Driver Assistant to join our team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. This role is a vital part of our Portering Services Department, responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of patients, staff, and equipment within the hospital.

The successful candidate will have a full and clean driving license with D1, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

As a Porter and Driver Assistant, you will be responsible for driving patients safely to various destinations, cleaning and maintaining hospital vehicles to a high standard, and removing rubbish and clinical waste from the hospital. You will also be required to deliver gas cylinders to patient areas, collect and remove waste, and transport equipment and stores.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To drive patients safely to various destinations, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • To clean and maintain hospital vehicles to a high standard, ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
  • To remove rubbish and clinical waste from the hospital, storing it in designated areas for collection by external contractors.
  • To deliver gas cylinders to patient areas, following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • To collect and remove waste, including recyclables and non-recyclable materials.
  • To transport equipment and stores, using hospital vehicles or other authorized means.
  • To assist with moving equipment and setting up for functions, as required.
  • To participate in training and development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge in areas such as customer service, safety, and efficiency.
