About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team at South and Vale District Council. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing financial analysis and support to various council departments.

About the Position

  • Assist the Principal Accountant and Strategic Finance Manager in providing financial analysis and support to selected council departments.\
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to support decision-making.\
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge in accordance with professional standards and guidelines.\
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental objectives and improve overall performance.\
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.\
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.\

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.\
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.\
  • Develop and implement financial models and tools to support decision-making.\
  • Provide financial guidance and support to non-financial employees.\
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in financial regulations and procedures.\

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of local government financial regulations and procedures.\
  • Experience in using financial analysis software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.\
  • Education to A-Level or equivalent, AAT Qualified (Grade 7) or working towards the later stages of the qualification (Grade 6).\
  • Potential expectation to study for a professional qualification, such as CIPFA.\
  • Previous experience in a district council setting is beneficial but not essential.\
  • Knowledge of UNIT4/Agresso software is an advantage.\
