Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our Temporary Accommodation Team within the Housing Choice service. This vital role focuses on managing the provision of temporary accommodation for homeless clients, ensuring appropriate placement, tenancy management, rent collection, and facilitating timely transitions to permanent housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Locate and Inspect Emergency Accommodations: Ensure compliance with safety standards and insurance requirements for emergency accommodations such as bed and breakfasts.
- Negotiate Cost-Effective Rates: Secure properties at best value for temporary accommodations.
- Manage Homeless Client Placements: Handle nominations for stage 2 temporary housing and ensure optimal use of available accommodation stock.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Ensure housing placements are safe and suitable for clients.
- Oversee Temporary Accommodation Closures: Serve Notice to Quits and minimize financial exposure for the Council.
- Prepare Reports: Investigate urgent management move requests, including those based on medical needs.
Requirements:
- Proven Experience: Public sector housing or a similar environment.
- Experience in Rent Management: Managing rent accounts and enforcement actions.
- Knowledge of Homeless Legislation: In-depth knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Landlord and Tenant Law, and Benefit regulations.
- Understanding of Housing Options: Strong understanding of available housing options and support services.
- Commitment to Equal Opportunities: Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
