Job Title: Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Derbyshire County Council.

About the Role:

As a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant to a high standard.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on heavy goods vehicles, using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve targets and deadlines.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair operations.
  • Valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B.
  • Category C HGV licence and/or being a qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7 would be highly advantageous.
