Job Title: Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Derbyshire County Council. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of our diverse fleet of motor vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant
  • Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical systems
  • Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve maintenance goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair operations
  • Valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B
  • Category C HGV licence and/or being a qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7 would be highly advantageous

Working Environment:

We operate a preventative maintenance program, with a focus on quality over quantity. The successful candidate will be issued with a personal tool kit and branded workwear.

Location:

The role will be based at our brand-new bespoke Derby Workshop, located on the outskirts of the City Centre. The standard working hours are Monday to Thursday – and Friday –
