Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our client's team in Swansea. As a dynamic educational institution, our client is committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for students. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and environmental sustainability of our college community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HSE Management Systems: Establish, document, and maintain robust HSE management systems, ensuring the health and safety of everyone within the college.
  • Educational Trips and Work-Based Learning: Oversee the implementation of effective processes for managing educational trips and work-based learning experiences, prioritizing the safety of students during college activities and work placements.
  • Compliance and Audits: Monitor compliance with HSE legislation, approved codes of practice, and guidance, conducting audits and addressing findings to maintain a safe environment.
  • Security and Emergency Planning: Maintain up-to-date security and emergency arrangements across the college, planning for various scenarios and ensuring preparedness.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Monitor environmental standards and compliance, contributing to the college's Sustainable Development Vision & Strategy to ensure a positive impact on the environment.
  • Team Management: Effectively manage designated support staff, providing induction, regular performance appraisals, and support to address any performance-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in health, safety, or environmental management, including a NEBOSH Diploma (or level 6 equivalent), or a Health & Safety Degree and chartered membership of IOSH or to work towards chartered membership.
  • Proven experience in HSE management, compliance, and audits.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
